Men, are you concerned about your own anger?

Published by at 12:55 pm under Counseling & Psychotherapy

“Anger is a blanket for sadness.” I believe this about myself, friends, family and clients. Our culture gives men more permission to be angry, than to cry openly.

When is the last time you saw a man cry in public? Sure there are the random sports heroes who cry when the win the national championship.

But when do you remember men crying because their feelings were hurt?

Can you imagine catching up to the guy who cut you off on the highway, lowering your window and telling him, “Gee, you hurt my feelings a few miles back….” Not likely.

So, if you find yourself getting angry a lot in your professional and personal relationships, there are likely other feelings below the surface that are worth exploring.

Imagery and journaling may be helpful.
