Narcissus, pederasty in Ancient Greece and sexual exploitation of minors in today’s world

Published by at 4:56 pm under Counseling & Psychotherapy

Narcissus was loved by men and women. This reflects ancient Greece’s greater acceptance of pederasty or the erotic love between adolescent boys and adult males.

This part of Ancient Greek culture had its controversy however. Ancient Greeks accepted the erotic attraction of adult males to adolescent boys, but disagreed on how to express that attraction.
The acceptance of pederasty, literally translated is “boy love” or the intimate/erotic love between adolescent boys and adult males creates ample data for the sad reality of the sexual abuse and exploitation of minors by adults in our culture.
