Choosing a therapist

How do you find a therapist?

The most common way is to ask friends if they know a therapist who has been helpful to them or someone they know. Then you have someone you trust pointing you in the right direction.

If this does not work, you can look on the internet and check larger sites, like Psychology Today where you can find many therapists by just putting in your zipcode or the problem you are trying to solve. Continue Reading »

Kansas State Web Resources for Parents, Media and Educators

Kansas State University education faculty have a wealth of articles with topics ranging from providing children adequate nutrition to understanding and dealing with temper tantrums.

Kansas State offcials state, “Through the work of the School of Family Studies and Human Services, the College of Education and Research and Extension, Kansas State University is a wealth of information, programs, activities and advice about children and parenting. K-State experts can keep parents busy learning about kids’ issues while keeping the kids engaged in exploring and learning for themselves.”

This is a great source of information. I will be studying the site to give you a more detailed look at what it offers.

Does Psychotherapy Work?

Yes. Most therapists will tell you that psychotherapy is very beneficial. We can see it every time we meet with a client.

Clients dealing with the symptoms of depression, fatigue, poor self-esteem, unable to get to sleep or waking up during the night, poor concentration, difficulty making decisions, and feelings of hopelessness get better. They become more optimistic, have more energy, sleep better, eat better and feel more hopeful.
