Do men benefit from participating in weekend retreats?

While the weekend retreats I co-lead, the Breakthrough Weekend, are not for everyone, my experience is that the majority of men gain a lot from their participation.

Back in 2004, we asked participants to evaluate their weekend experience and the results were very gratifying for us. Men used the following to describe their experience:

  • exceptional
  • life-changing
  • affirming
  • transformational

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being excellent), our average scores have always been in the 4.7 range.

At our annual fundraising dinner, a wife came up to me and said, “thanks, your program saved my marriage!” I was very moved by this affirmation, but have come to expect this over the years.

We are excited about this program and feel confident about its potential to help men build better relationships to family, friends and the larger world community.

Most of the men involved have also been involved in many other not-for-profit volunteer roles, helping children in need, organizations promoting peace, eradicating hunger, malnutrition and illiteracy in the world, among many important concerns.

Are you or someone you know looking for an inspirational growth experience? This might be it.
